The following 9 minute video looks in detail at how podcasting meets and exceeds educational requirements

Edcast Oracy Pack support

Our Edcast podcast learning kits are designed specifically as Oracy Packs to support theis Government Oracy Policies

Youtube

View or download all of our videos covering Oracy, Podcast Learning and the use of Electronic musical instruments in the classroom on our Youtube Ed-Cast Learning channel

Videos include equipment functions and connectivity but also how to create a learning environment to excite pupils to enhance their communication, creativity, digital skills, and subject-specific knowledge.

Foreign Language Class

Using podcasting in the English or Foreign language classroom is a really good way to promote not only listening and speaking skills, but also for writing skills when you ask your students to write a script for their podcast.

The recording and editing process really helps them with their pronunciation, the fact they were hearing the same target language again and again and again, and the fact it was their own voices or their friends' voices, which really helps with their motivation as well.

Support for Editing

iIf the prospect of editing and publishing activities are either beyond the capabilities of you and your class right now, or the process is too time consuming in class or not really a key element for your class at this stage

How about using or creating a podcasting club, either with students in your class or elsewhere in your school, where you have some really eager, talented and technically committed individuals to do this either alone, in a group or even at home?.

Students with Special Needs and Disabilities (SEND)

In the past Students with Special Needs were often referred to SEND Schools for help but with the introduction of the Government Oracy programme this support can be provided in all schools, except for those severe cases that need more specialist help

Teaching Oracy skills using podcast creation offers a highly inclusive, flexible, and motivating approach for Special Needs learners.

Oracy and Group Learning

Group Learning is the key to getting the best Oracy learning skills using podcasting sessions in the classroom or even outdoors

Key Benefits include deeper comprehension and higher levels of learning retention, Improved Oracy, communication and social skills with higher engagement with a recording that can be evaluated and discussed in a group.

Oracy and Active Listening

Active listening is the process of fully concentrating on, understanding, responding to, and remembering what a speaker is saying, focusing on their complete message (words, tone, body language) rather than just waiting to reply.
It involves showing engagement through verbal and non-verbal cues, asking clarifying questions, paraphrasing, and withholding judgment to build deeper connections and ensure the speaker feels heard and validated.

Active Listening builds trust and stronger relationships, Resolves conflicts more effectively, Improves communication and oracy skills, reduces misunderstandings, and helps you learn and retain information better and for life
