We have an online Database of more than 300 Oracy Lesson Plans covering all major subjects and many topics in Oracy learning methodology that you can download, if your topic is not covered we can quickly create a Lesson Plan for you for your subject and class year group. Or convert one of your plans to Oracy Learning format,  alternatively use out Lesson Plan Template to create your own Lesson Plan

The Lesson plan format complies with OFSTED assessment criteria and includes Type of Group Working, Oracy Compass, Developmental targets, detailed lesson timeline with instructions, Active Listening Rubric, and a Class Lesson Assessment Record

Computer requirements

Make sure that you have a computer that can cope with recording, editing and saving podcast files

You need a computer with

• Windows, Apple, Chrome book or Android operating system
• a minimum processor of Intel i5
• 8Gb of memory
• 128Gb hard drive
• access to the school WiFi network

Classroom Lighting

Lighting is an important feature in creating a successful classroom podcast, solutions range from making best use of the existing classroom lighting and window light source to using simple LED desk mounted lights for Oracy learning or for more professional productions full studio lights with coloured or use chroma green background are available in carry kits

 The small LED light on a desk tripod stand can be carried in the Oracy Pack as an added accessory together with a 4k 60 fps auto-focus camera to create high quality videos easily and quickly for normal classroom use.

Canera pre- recorded video

To capture and record video alfready stored on the SD card in the camera select Mass storage, alternatively use the HDMI cable with miniature HDMI connected to the front of the camera and connected to your PC HDMI input

Recording a Podcast

Different Recording software is needed for Windows, Apple, Chromebook and Android  operating systems. We have created instruction videos for each of them  This video shows you how to Record Videos using the Windows Camera APP

 Podcast Editing Software

After recording, it's time to edit the recording. You may not have recorded the audio and video in the correct order, so the priority is to create a version with the video and audio clips in the order that you want. Also, clips can be trimmed to delete any unnecessary pauses or interruptions.

GDPR, Permissions & Copyright etc

A very important issue not to be overlooked is that of child protection regarding GDPR guidelines and  gaining parents’ permissions

Permissions are needed from parents or legal guardians and “release to publish” from guests.

Privacy issues relate to access to podcasts by students, teachers, parents and the public.

Copyright infringement and risks of legal action for false or defamatory content also need to be understood by teachers and students before publishing.

Publishing your Podcast

Decide where your are going to watch or publish your completed project

You need to choose where you want to upload and publish your podcast.

Is it just for classroom use where your podcast is shown on a monitor or touch-screen?

Will it be added to the school server so that it can be viewed anywhere in school?

Will it be uploaded to a Cloud Hosting Server where podcasts can be viewed by the teachers and students, or selected groups, such as parents, or to the public.
